Is anywhere as magnificent, as lovely, as lush<\/p>\n
As my home?<\/p>\n
“My home?”<\/p>\n
I’m no more than an insecure egg<\/p>\n
In a nest in a tree<\/p>\n
Which has itself grown through magma and ice<\/p>\n
Which held mastodon and dragons<\/p>\n
And not so long ago<\/p>\n
Was crushed<\/p>\n
Miles deep by glaciers.<\/p>\n
I am in awe of June rains as daisies bloom<\/p>\n
And comfrey leaves overtake<\/p>\n
Bravely flowering Iris —<\/p>\n
Where blue flag wants the driveway<\/p>\n
And infant, budless Black-Eyed Susan<\/p>\n
Sublimely claims the center strip.<\/p>\n
It is a blessing to live in Buckland<\/p>\n
And if there is ownership, perhaps<\/p>\n
This owns me.<\/p>\n
